The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham JonesMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was so good is so many ways.
I liked how Stephen Graham Jones shows you the painful history of the Blackfeet Nationin the most satisfying way possible. This feels like Interview with the Vampire meets Kill Bill. The story within a story within a story setting was cool, the book pulls it off.
I had no idea this was a Nebula Award winner but of course, well deserved. This book also made it Obama's reading list last year so that's a big bump for this book.
It was hard for me to get through some of the chapters whenever the narrator voice was an old Piegan Blackfeet Tribe member because the way things are named require paying special attention and it was hard to track what was what and who. I am still a bit confused as to who was what, since the same characters often go by different names in the narrative. However I was able to keep up without looking anything up, and the gist of the story is not hard to grasp.
Great book if you like horror books. I love the stuff this author makes, I just saw his latest book "Off the Reservation" the sequel to his famous "The Only Good Indians" is out. So I might get that soon.
